General answers. Ask the dentist about your own case.
64 are listed on this page. Each is here because its own website says it does extractions. East Ottawa Dental ranks first, rated 5 from 396 Google reviews.
It is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the jawbone, also called pulling a tooth. A simple extraction takes out a tooth you can see in the mouth. A surgical extraction is needed when a tooth is broken at the gum line or has not come in, such as an impacted wisdom tooth. Your dentist will tell you which kind you need after an exam and usually an X-ray.
Start with a general dentist. Most extractions are done in a regular dental office. If the tooth is impacted, close to a nerve, or you need sedation the office does not offer, the dentist may refer you to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
It depends on the tooth, whether the extraction is simple or surgical, and the dentist. We do not have prices for these offices, so ask the dentist for an estimate before treatment. Provincial dental associations publish a fee guide that many offices use as a starting point.
Provincial health plans generally do not pay for extractions done in a dental office. Extended health or dental plans through work often cover part of the cost. The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers eligible residents for some services. Ask your insurer what your plan pays, and ask the dentist whether they bill it directly.
Sometimes. Some dentists can see you and remove a tooth on the same visit, especially for pain or a broken tooth. Others book the extraction after the first exam. Call and describe your problem to find out.
We read each dentist's own website and list it here only when the site names tooth extractions. Services change, so call to confirm before you book.
