About denture clinics

Denture clinics across Canada are run by denturists (denturologists in Quebec), regulated professionals who design, make, fit, adjust and repair full and partial dentures, including implant-supported dentures. In most provinces you can book directly with a denturist without seeing a dentist first. Many clinics also offer same-day repairs, relines and rebases, and some work alongside dentists and implant surgeons for patients who need extractions or implants.

Across Canada, 4 denture clinics list Saturday hours and 2 list Sunday hours. The average patient rating is 4.6 out of 5, and 78 clinics are rated 4.5 or higher.

Questions about denture clinics

What to expect before you go.

What is the difference between a denturist and a dentist?

A denturist (called a denturologist in Quebec) is a regulated professional who specializes in making, fitting and repairing removable dentures. A dentist diagnoses and treats the teeth, gums and mouth, and performs extractions, fillings and surgery. Many patients with dentures see both.

Do I need a referral to see a denturist?

In most provinces you can book directly with a denturist, with no referral from a dentist or doctor. If you still have natural teeth that need extractions first, a dentist or oral surgeon handles that step.

How much do dentures cost in Canada?

A full set of conventional dentures commonly costs about $1,500 to $4,000 for an upper and lower pair, depending on materials and the clinic. Partial dentures, relines and repairs cost less, and implant-supported dentures cost considerably more. Ask for a written estimate before you start.

Are dentures covered by insurance or government plans?

Dentures are generally not covered by provincial health plans. Many employer extended health plans cover part of the cost, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan may cover dentures for eligible residents. Check your benefits and ask the clinic about direct billing.

How long does it take to get dentures?

A new set of conventional dentures usually takes several weeks and a few visits for impressions, bite records and fittings. Repairs and relines can often be done the same day or within a few days.

How often should dentures be replaced or checked?

Dentures typically last five to ten years. The mouth changes over time, so a denturist may recommend a reline or adjustment sooner. Have your fit and your gums checked about once a year.
